Embed your webcam into a recording
Screencastify allows you to easily embed your webcam into a tab or desktop recording. This enables you to add a personal touch to your recordings by showing your audience the "face behind the screen".
Embed your webcam
- Click on the Screencastify extension icon to open the Recording Control Panel
- Select either the "TAB" or "DESKTOP" recording option
- Check the box next to "Embed webcam" and select your camera (Not seeing your webcam? Click here for troubleshooting help)
- Click the icon to select which corner of the recording your webcam will appear in
If you embed your webcam into a tab recording, you can drag it anywhere in your tab during the recording or resize it by dragging the corner of the webcam preview.
If you're embedding your webcam into a desktop recording, you'll have the option to "Show preview window". If you select this option, a small preview of your recording (including the embedded webcam) will appear in the bottom right hand corner of your screen during the recording. We recommend selecting this option if you want to see yourself while recording.
If you're embedding your webcam into a tab recording, you'll be able to see the embedded webcam in the corner of your tab when you start the recording.
Toggle your webcam on and off during a tab recording
If you're embedding your webcam into a tab recording, you'll be able to turn your webcam on and off throughout your recording as many times as you like.
Simply click the icon in your annotation toolbar to toggle your webcam on and off during your recording. Note that your recording must begin with the embedded webcam turned on for this icon to appear in the annotation toolbar.
